Inspires Your Creation

This exhibition Ukiyo-e: Inspires Your Creation was developed and curated by international shoe designer Noritaka Tatehana.

Ukiyo-e is an ancient Japanese art style of woodblock printing that emerged in the 17th century through to the 19th century where all matter of subjects were created that encapsulated the Japanese culture of the time.

The designers and their pieces exhibited had all drawn their inspiration from this traditional Japanese artistic style, the process of creation and the scenery that makes up their creations. Encapsulating what it is to be Japanese and transforming it into modern collections.
